Worked great, seemed pretty durable.
My learning curve and tips aside, this kit was easy to use and held up very well. It put up with the abuse I put it through experimenting with it and my lack of experience in using one. I'd buy it again for sure. This was my first time using a spot weld cutter. I bought 3 different brands, cheap one med one and expensive one. I'd consider the Blair one the med one. I used this one first, it worked so well I didn't even try the other two I bought. It comes with 3 cutting blades, I only used one of them to cut out over 100 spot welds and it's still sharp enough to keep cutting. I tried cutting d

Taking parts off a Saab 900 is much easier using this cutter for so many spotwelds. The 900 is known for a sturdy build that protects people in an accident, due to strong heavy Swedish steel panels and endless welds. The spring loaded center bit is very useful for slowly getting the rotary cutter engaged while not going through the lower panel. After removing the front fenders, about 40 welds each, the cutter still looks new, sharp and unchipped. Tip - Center punch to weld, place pilot drill in punch and slowly 'bounce' the cutter against the panel until it has cut a circle enough to hold it c

I really wanted to like this set, especially for the price. But... I can't really recommend it. The pilots are expensive ($20 for a set of 3) and a new set of cutters is $30 too. You're better off replacing the whole set which is stupid, and a waste, since the arbor is fine. I've broken both my pilots and 2 cutters (both times related to the pilot not skipping and actually yanking the drill out of my hand and breaking a tooth or two off of the cutters while simultaneously shattering the pilot) and I just can't recommend it. These aren't hard tools to use, but this one is too brittle for how ex

I liked the sharpness and hardness of these durable bits. I lightly center punched the work before use and the center pins kept the bits on point for the most part. Even when they slipped, I also used cutting oil which slicked things up a bit, they remained undamaged. I used one bit to remove the rear apron on a 68 VW bug. It still has life to remove another with ease. I was apprehensive about drilling out spot welds but after using these I will now tackle my floor pan removal without hesitation. I love these bits and you will too. Use a decent center punch, use cutting oil to lubricate before

Great product
I took on the daunting task of drilling out 150 spot welds. I started out with two different sized drill bits, 1/8" then 3/8". It took 30 minutes for three spot welds. So I bought this unit and I buzzed through each weld in 10 to 15 seconds each. The cutter is still sharp and going strong. Highly recommended.

After reading the reviews and then purchasing and using myself, I am pretty confident most bad ones were operator error. First off, its a metal cutting tool, so you must use a lubricant every time. I used tap o matic gold. When starting to drill do not just shove on it. Put slight pressure and let the center bit work a bit to create a guide. Again its metal cutting, control your speed. You can cut through the first layer only of the spot weld as long as you do not put too much pressure and keep checking your depth you cut. I cut at least 100 spot welds with only the first bit. It was stil cutt

Started rebuilding a 1969 ford bronco. Not realizing how ford put these things together I quickly learned a spot weld cutter was a must have. Looked on line and found tons of references to one from HF so I made the trip and picked one up. After getting started with the one from HF I quickly realized there had to be a better one out there. Ask the folks that use them all the time and got the same answer from 3 different body shops. Blair Cutter was the only one to buy. Man was I surprised at how much difference there is in it. This thing cuts spot welds out without any effort at all. The trick

These things are amazing. Do not waste your time on the harbor freight style cutters. Or the solid carbide cutters. I have used both and neither cut spot welds out like this one. the drill bit looks like it would go through both sides of the panel before the cutter cuts the weld, but what no one mentions any where in the documentation or online is that the guide drill is spring loaded, it even has a tension adjustment on the chuck side of the tool. You set the tension you want, it will drill a dimple first then compress and cut the weld out. with little to no damage to the panel behind the joi

Best set of cutting bits I have used to date. I have tried the cheap harbour freight ones, cobalt bits from Northern Tool and Fastenal and multiple types of cutting oils and pastes. Slow speed drilled and still was not getting more than 5-10 cuts from them. Then I got these. I have cut over 50 spots welds from my 65 Mustang on the first bit alone. The centering spring loaded starter bit makes all the difference. All I do is use my spring loaded punch to give myself a starting point and begin slowing with this. When it begins cutting just maintain pressure and a reasonable speed. You will feel

A spot weld cutting SOB!
This tool saved my hands, fingers, religious beliefs and my marriage. With a good center punch and a hand drill I cut hundreds of spotwelds on my old Chevy, never even dulled the first cutter and the kit comes with 3. Beats using a drill bit hands down.

I paid $75 at Tacoma Screw for their product with replacement cutters. It was garbage and I'm convinced it's the same one you get at HF. I bought the Blair and never looked back. Waaayyy better tool. You can feel the quality and it simply worked better. Get the more expensive one because it has a drill bit tip.

Ok the bad news is I burned out the first one in a matter of minutes. I failed to read that you DONT want to plug this into your drill and go all out. Keep the RPMs below 500. I found it worked awesome if I followed the instructions. ( Who would have thought right! ) Use lubricant to keep it sharp and don't go fast and watch your depth as I cut thru both layers of metal before I knew it. This is my first time doing body work and it was user error not product error. I am using this on a 67 mustang complete restoration and it is making the work of getting the spot welds undone a breeze. ( Once I

Excellent Quality and Stays Sharp
Excellent quality product that did an amazing job cutting thru my spot welds. I cut thru approximately 100 plus spot welds and the cutter remained sharp. I did manage to break one cutter when it grabbed and snapped half the cutter into on a piece of metal. It states in the instructions not to run the cutter speed above 500 rpm and I ran mine a little slower after I snapped the one cutter and had no problems cutting thru the spot welds. High Quality and cutters stay sharp. Highly recommend this product.

This tool looks professional and works like a professional. Simple instructions are printed inside the nice compact plastic container this kit comes in and if followed correctly this thing lasts a while. I am now interested in any other tools from Blair Industries after using this one. PLUS, This is made here in the USA, I love to see that and be able to help support that!

Very good tool
I've used this tool to drill out approximately 150 spot welds in a 1952 Chevy. I'm still on the first cutter (out of 3), and it is still cutting very well. I bought a competitor's product prior to this, and it was dull and ineffective after cutting out about 20-30 welds. This is a great product, and well worth the price. I use a center punch and pilot drill to create a small dimple to set the guide tip into before drilling out the welds. Takes a few extra minutes, but works exceptionally well. I'm very satisfied with this product.

Been using them with Tap Magic cutting fluid and they cut through the welds easily. So far I have cut a couple dozen welds on the first bit and it is still going strong. I have two criticisms: - The return spring on the pilot pin is quite stiff, can make applying the needed pressure tough at certain upward angles. - The arbor is too long. It makes it hard to fit in certain areas on my drill. I'm going to get a right angle drill adapter to work around this, but they should just make the arbor about 2" shorter and that would be better.

spot weld cutter
This is the best spot weld cutter i have ever bought. requires very little pressure and it cuts right through. Other cutters i have purchased i would get maybe 10 spot welds drilled out before they would quit cutting. So far i have drilled out 50 spot welds and it's still as sharp as when i started. Wish i would have bought this one a long time ago.

Working on a 1977 Jeep, replacing floor pans and body panels that are more rust than steel, just one cutting head has gotten me through more than 50 spot welds so far, although it is about time to swap. I'm going to try sharpening the used one and see what results I get. Center punch every spot weld, go SLOW (it likes to cut slow with heavy pressure, not fast, not light, slow and heavy, like people these days..) and you'll be golden.

I was building a custom skid plate for an old WWII truck and needed to drill a bazillion 3/8" diameter holes for the Hot Rivets to go through. I literally drilled 276 holes with this kit, and using some Tap Magic cutting oil, I only dulled out one of the 3 bits cutting through A50 mild steel plate. Buy this kit
I have used many different spot weld cutters and this is by far the best one out there. The cutting blades are thick and can take abuse, they cut even when the weld isn't flat or in a corner. Be sure to buy the lube and this will last practically forever. I have done at least 200 spots with one blade and I bet it will do 200 more without having to apply extra pressure. This is one of the best purchases ever.

Best way to drill almost any metal!
Rotabroach tools like this are wonderful for saving time over using several different bits to get the size you need, and are great for cutting through spot welds, too! An important note: These sets do not come with a center punch; that other piece is an extra pilot to replace the one in the arbor if you damage it. You will need your own center punch.
