Fast, simple, relatively accurate (for a strip)
Test strips are never going to be as precise as using drops for titration testing or having water tested by a lab. However, using these strips to do daily tests during new tank cycling and weekly tests to check for problems is very helpful. I still do drop tests monthly and anytime a test strip results looks questionable. But drops take a long time, are messy, and generally overkill for basic spot checking. There are other brands that test more things, but they seem to provide questionable consistency in their results. Tetra's seem to be consistent and match almost perfectly with the titration

Works exactly how it says. Highly reccomend for fast testing of all the vital water levels that effect fish and tank health. Great one stop shop for begginers. I do wish they dissolved faster and weren't so hard so the ingredients would dispurse faster. I wish they would make something similar for fish disease!

Easy and accurate
I switched to these dip strips a couple years ago when my (then 7 year old) son got his own tank. The accuracy is comparable to the full spectrum test kit I was using, and it was very easy for my child to use and interpret the results himself. We have repurchased many times. I highly recommend you tear off the color chart and tape it to an index card, completely covering it in clear box tape. It is nearly impossible to keep the paper dry otherwise. Your welcome.

Matches API liquid test results
As someone who runs multiple large fishrooms, these strips have saved a lot of my time over the years. I have been alternating between them and the more precise, but more time-consuming liquid tests. Strips in general have a reputation to be less accurate than liquid tests, but the results of these particular strips match the liquid tests consistently. My new employees are always hesitant in their interpretation of the results at first, so I will say it does take some practice before you can use the color chart confidently. Protip: if your nitrates results are coming out brown and your whites

Ease of use is the goal
If you want great accuracy then don't buy these and spend some money on a more expensive (API Mater Test Kit) or get an electronic water tester (multiparameter device if you want to drop some serious cash). Otherwise, this is great for its intended purpose of giving you an idea of where your water parameters are real quick.

What is going on with the nitrate test?
I got to this page simply by searching a problem I am having - my nitrate test is turning brown, that doe not match the indicator on the bottle AT ALL. Looking at these reviews, this seems to be an ongoing problem for at least TWO YEARS! Tetra, instead of asking people to email you privately, can you please just let people publicly know what's going on with the nitrate pads? Did you change formulas and not update the color chart? Is a batch bad? PLEASE just let us all know! On the upside, I at least know these are testing water hardness somewhat accurately

Quick, easy water quality monitoring
I have a 75 gallon goldfish tank - easier to mentally consider a small pond, than a large tank, especially with my notoriously dirty, large goldfish. These strips make water quality checks a simple two minute task. The readings give me a good general overview; if any are off, I have a professional test kit for more specific titrations. After a gold dust outbreak and all the treatments to get everyone healthy again, these strips helped me return the tank to its pre-infection water quality parameters. Highly recommended!

Okay but lots of guesswork
They test basic parameters quickly which is nice, but in tanks with high pH, etc, lots of guesswork. Been getting lots of the dye looking results from this one. Great for a quick look at basics, usually.

Easy and Accurate
I am an experienced aquarist of many years. Mainly due to the lower cost, I've used the liquid "master" test kits for quite some time. My six year old recently requested his own tank, and since the idea is that he will be 100% responsible for his tank (with me testing and checking behind him, of course), I got him these strips instead. Ultra simple: 1)dry hands, 2) dip, 3)count, 4)match to the colors. The results are consistent, clear, and accurate compared to other tests. My only complaint is that if you are color blind, these strips can be difficult to read, but that is the case for the liqu

Tetra Easystrips are indeed easy. No bottles and chemicals to mix. Dip in aqauarium. Wait 30 seconds for initial readings. Nitrite and Nitrate readings in 60 seconds. Fast, easy and most importantly, accurate readings

Nitrates Color Wrong
Overall the strips are okay. I don't test often, I over filter @ 550% with 76% stocked 20L tank. I do bi monthly water changes of 30%. I know my water conditions are great, crystal clear. I test when I do a filter cleaning or when I feel like it. Lately the nitrate pad turns brown. I checked other reviewers and it seems to be a known problem. I'll switch back to liquid testing.

Keeps changing color
This test strip kit is good but I dont know if it is completely accurate. Probably not. You have to follow instructions into detail. It is however very convenient and I mostly monitor my ph because it likes to go up and I have cardinals. Definitely recommend this. Very easy to use. If you dont read at the right point the colors will keep changing.

Surprisingly accurate for test strips!
I use these when I am feeling lazy during the week and don't want to mess with the API Liquid Test Kit.... I do test the two products side by side every new batch of strips I get to make sure they are still reading correctly just to be safe and I still use the API kit on Saturdays just to be able to pin-point the numbers closer. The rest of the week however I just use these strips. I'm rather meticulous about the water parameters due to having very sensitive fish so I do test every morning for any kind of spikes.

Seems fine!
I don't have anything to compare these to because I've never used any of them before. Seemed to work fine, pay attention to directions on box, the colored strip you compare to is wrong on the box (and it's says so), you want to use the chart on the bottle.

Tests are accurate
The strips are nice and work pretty well. It's sometimes difficult to accurately measure the hardness and pH of the water because the color scale doesn't differentiate enough between some of the levels. Like between neutral, hard and very hard water, and what exactly the pH is at, like 7, 7.5, or 8, the colors just don't distinguish enough between each level, so it's hard to tell sometimes. But other than that, I like them and think they work pretty well

Easy to Use
I have used these for the three years I have had my aquarium. First time I took a sample to the pet store and they brought out these strips, I said to heck wit that, and I bought my own. It is difficult to compare the colors on the strip to the color chart. But Tetra has made reading the strips fool proof now. Download the new APP! Comes with a function to scan the strip with your camera, and viola! You get the test results and recommendations to fix any problems. Love it.

I have a saltwater tank in my classroom and while monthly I perform the chemical tests that take a while to do, I use these strips daily to check parameters of the tank. These strips have saved my corals, inverts and fish from quickly rising nitrite levels and alerting me of low PH in the tank. I can quickly remedy the problem and my tank continues to thrive to the joy of the students and myself! The readings are almost identical to those that I get using the chemical based testing kit. I'm ordering more for the future!

simple but amazing
This product was amazing for me. I don't understand how the people in the other reviews couldn't find the chart but its really easy. The chart is featured on the bottle the outside wrapper has a little sign that says pull here, and the chart is on a second page. The chart is easy to read and gives you good over-all test results for your tank. Over the last 10 to 12 years of having all different types of fish and fish tanks, like now to this day i have a koi pond, a goldfish tank, a chilid tank, a tropical tank, and a saltwater tank, and i can honestly say i have used all different kinds of str

all you need for freshwater
I love this product and it has saved me hundreds of mistakes. I cycled my first tank in error with ALL my fish, but using this and other products, knowing what to do, kept all of them alive, and kept us out of the danger zone the whole time. Ive heard the liquid versions are better, but personally, there is a lot of work involved in owing a tank, and taking care of a dozen or more fish a day. this is accurate, easy , and they have one for ammonia that i use with it as well. I buy it by the 100 pack. believe me, its a bargain, and its needed.

I always buy the tetra test strips, I really like them but on my last purchase the nitrates were turning brown instead of pink, so I contacted them and they told me they are aware of the problem and they will send me a replacement. this is 7-26-18 they said 5b days so I'll just wait. hopefully the new one will read properly. if the problem is resolved I definitely recommend this product like I said I have been using it for a very long time.

must have item for your aquarium
first off, you can't beat the price! this is a must have item for anyone who has an aquarium. i have seven (7) tanks and its a must that i check my water at least once if not twice a day. most neighborhood stores only carry the 5in1 strips. these give an additional test that helps even more. i highly recommend this product!

A fantastic product
This sure beats the long time it took to rinse and fill multiple tubes to a line and then drop "x" number of drops of various types of solutions to get the status of your water chemistry! Takes no effort and gives great results in one minute. I do this once a week to check my balances.. Highly worth it to save time and get quick results. I found I wasn't testing as regularly before due to the hassle it was. This is simple, and I find myself doing this on a weekly schedule now and consequently keeping my water in perfect condition. I have a 210 gallon fresh water tank.

Aquarium test strips
I love these & also much better of a price on here compared to what I was paying in the store. I got 4x as many for $4 more. $12- 25 in store or $16- 100 chewy. 5 star price!

Keep an eye on parameters!
I recently purchased the Tetra Easy Strips. I use them because they are quick and easy!! Now Im more of a fan of using the test tubes and color chart but....... in a pinch these give you a pretty good idea if your tank is having a problem. Better to always test and Tetra makes it Easy! So , no excuses get yourself a bottle now!

Definitely does the job.
I realized two weeks into my new tank i hadn't bought an ammonia test kit, so getting these through chewy definitely helped keep my betta safe. They do the job they're supposed to, but my only real complaint with them is that they turn blue /really/ fast. If you don't have adequate light right there by the aquarium and you have to go into another room to check the color on the strip, it'll be blue-green by the time you get there.

For anyone who can't "find" the chart
It's on the bottle!!! You have to peel the label back, and there is a ton more info on the bottle, folks. These strips work fine. I wish my tank were as easy to maintain as the strips are to use LOL I do use a separate ammonia test kit, since the strips don't have that, and I feel that these are pretty pricey. But they work great, the chart is easy to read (once you find it- again, peel the label up). Apparently the company needs to be a little clearer about where they store the charts.

Great product
I got this to check my water stats. A whole lot easier than doing the test tube and drops. I can check 5 different things for saltwater. The 6 in 1 is for the fresh water so 1 part of the stick is useless for saltwater but it is clearly labeled on the comparison chart. I love the results in 30 seconds for all.
